Holiday Workshops
We aim to offer inclusive and fun academic and creative workshops during the school holidays to allow students to get to know one another, practise their exam skills and learn new creative skills. Our Maths & English classes aim to support students with tricky curriculum areas and lift performance ahead of key exams while our creative courses aim to offer children access to learning they may not typically receive during their day to day school curriculum.

We vary the creative course schedule we run each holiday period. Below are a few examples of the workshops we have run in the recent past:
Cookery Workshop

Led by professional chef, Nikki, this workshop aims to teach children how to make a repertoire of seasonal dishes and improve their technical skills relevant to age. Past dishes created have involved making pasta and pizza from scratch, Chinese dumplings threeways, shortbread and gingerbread houses, focaccia and mini loaves, seasonal puds made from locally picked fruit and sushi rolling. Children will be able to prepare each dish during the session with Nikki, which will then be kept fresh for the children to cook/bake where applicable and devour at home!

Painting Workshop
During our painting workshops, children will have the opportunity to create their own canvas painting, with our most recent workshop inspired by Vincent Van Gogh’s Sunflowers. We aim to give the children an insight into art history, elucidating the lives of famous artists and painters, before allowing the children to create their own paintings in a similar style.
Children will learn about primary and secondary colours (older students also to cover tertiary and complementary colours), painting techniques and the effect of various brush strokes while being encouraged to express their imagination on the canvas.

Woodwork Workshop

Led by experienced creative facilitator, Te'Azha, from Seed of Play eco woodwork initiative, this will be a fun and interactive workshop, giving children the opportunity to build something memorable to take home.

Students will see a demonstration of how to drill and use tools safely, before being assisted to create a mini project of choice. Past projects have ranged from fairy gardens to stationery holders to houses for cherished toys.

This workshop aims to empower children's practical understanding of building structures and basic joinery while giving a joyful insight into the world of upcycling.
Drama Workshop
Our drama workshops are led by Polly Waldron, actor, theatre maker and facilitator, trained at the Royal Central School of Speech & Drama. During the drama workshop, the students will be engaged in a range of sensory play and musical storytelling activities based around a fairy tale theme where they will be encouraged to use their bodies to imagine and reenact part of a well loved children's story. Students will be guided to collaborate to make a soundscape of the story setting and move through different parts of the key action together, culminating in a final performance at the end of the day. There will be the option for prop and costume design for children who would prefer to engage in the "set design" rather than the performance aspect.
