She aims to encourage children to build their resilience and capacity to meet learning challenges and subsequently witness the joy this brings to students and their families.

As the lead tutor she is involved in guiding the progress and lesson plans of all children learning with the KKH team.

Whether it is the Year 6 boy who, upon receiving his SATs results, raced across the classroom shouting “Thank you Mr S!”; seeing the look of triumph in the eyes of a Year 5 pupil when the penny dropped on how to simplify fractions; the SEND child in Year 4 who he taught social skills in play, who three weeks later was engaging in playing snakes and ladders with 3 class-mates – he had never been able to engage properly; or the group of KS1 pupils who came to Homework Club every lunchtime of their own accord so that they could practise their maths with Mr S.
His teaching style is firm but fun. Alongside the traditional 3 Rs, Chris believes in another two: Respect and Responsibility. And it’s a two-way process. Mr S' pupils learn to respect their peers, their tutor, and – more importantly – themselves. And he respects them.
